Don't expect protests like this in Delcambre, Louisiana! In the quaint town of Delcambre, Louisiana, it is officially unlawful to let your jeans hang low and show off your superman-print underwear or martini-patterned boxers. The punishment? Six months in jail and a hefty $500 fine, says the New York Times blog, The Lede. Louisiana and Virginia also have statewide fines and Orlando and Dallas have local ones--but none of them are nearly as severe as the Delcambre law. The law is actually being criticized as a form racism because the style is popular among african-american youth and associated with hip hop fashion.The ordinance in Delcambre, Louisiana reads:
It shall be unlawful for any person in any public place or in view of the public to be found in a state of nudity, or partial nudity, or in dress not becoming to his or her sex, or in any indecent exposure of his or her person or undergarments, or be guilty of any indecent or lewd behavior.
