After many years away from his recording studio, the singer-songwriter is back with a new album

Julian Fleisher has explored just about every creative path there is. The singer-songwriter has been a bandleader as well as a producer (working on Kiki & Herb: Live at Carnegie Hall), actor (touring with Elevator Repair Service), and writer (literally writing the book on drag in New York City, titled The Drag Queens of New York: All Illustrated Field Guide). But luckily he's stuck with his music passion.

"I usually just go with whatever's on the front burner at the moment," Fleisher exlpains. "The trouble is I have the curiosity of stubborn alley cat and I get bored pretty fast. I'm rarely content just to enjoy something. Enjoying a thing means I have to try that thing. And trying it means banging away until I've done it -- and done it well enough that it's not embarrassing."

He's set to release his latest album, Finally, on May 13. It's different from his last, more jazz-inflected album, but he sticks to his subtly witty lyrics and silky smooth crooner.

So, what else does he have on the horizon? "Oh, other stuff," he says, struggling to choose. "Ask me tomorrow. The answer will be different."

We have an exclusive of a romantic song stylings below, the title track off the album. If you're a fan of The Carpenters or James Taylor, we think you'll enjoy this. Check it out below:
