We loved Cheyenne Jackson's part in Behind the Candelabra (Michael Musto writing, "His reaction shots alone were more priceless than even Scott Thorson's gifted jewelry."), and we can't wait to see him in Ira Sachs's new film, Love is Strange. But first, let's get ready for his first full-length solo album, which will be titled I'm Blue, Skies, on June 25.
Today Jackson announced that the album, which is produced by Thomas "Tawgs" Salter and The ELEV3N, was cowritten by himself with SIA, Stevie Aiello, Chris Braide, and Charlotte Sometimes. It will include 12 songs that "pay tribute to his Broadway roots, while infusing them with a fresh sound." Jackson and SIA co-wrote three songs together, the first, titled "Don't Look at Me," will be available for digital download June 14.
"After writing songs my whole life but never sharing them, my friend (and mentor) SIA urged me to, so I decided to take a leap and share my music," Jackson explained to us. "After a year-and-a-half of writing dozens and dozens of songs and collaborating with some amazing talent, I finally whittled 'em down to a collection of songs that I feel really captures who I am, and happens to be a great summer album. Truly, my only hope is that people connect with my lyrics, my melodies, and really hear my heart in the music."
