The Love is Strange trailer includes Marisa Tomei & Cheyenne Jackson

Ira Sachs's last film, Keep the Lights On, was an indie and festival darling but had a cast of lesser-known actors. Anticipation for his latest film, Love is Strange, is high, especially since it stars sexagenarians John Lithgow and Alfred Molina as newlyweds who are homeless soon after their marriage in New York City.

It's the first time they've worked together in a movie--let alone been in intimate scenes. Marisa Tomei is wonderful as her caring, yet annoyed, in-law. And Cheyenne Jackson has a fun turn as a D&D-playing gay police officer. The film tackles difficult topics but retains both humor and pathos.

"Any couple -- gay, straight or whatever -- they have their bond; there's just a kind of understanding," Lithgow said. "In a good marriage, your partner allows you to be more yourself than anybody else, for better or for worse."

Love is Strange opens in New York and Los Angeles on Aug. 22.
