B.D. Wong will star in the upcoming Jurassic Park sequel Jurassic World, reports IGN.
Wong will portray scientist Henry Wu, a role he also played in the original 1993 film. According to writer-director Colin Trevorrow, Wong's role will be much more substantial than in the first movie. "[Wu] had a much larger role in the original novel, he was the engineer of this breakthrough in de-extinction. He spent two decades living in Hammond's shadow, underappreciated. We think there's more to his story," Trevorrow told IGN.
Wong has performed in a variety of roles across theater, film, and television. He received a Tony Award in 1988 for his part in M. Butterfly. Wong also starred in HBO's dramatization of And the Band Played On, based on Randy Shilts's account of the early days of AIDS activism. More recently, Wong had a long-running role as psychiatrist George Huang in NBC's Law and Order: Special Victims Unit.
Jurassic World is the fourth film in the Jurassic Park franchise and takes place 22 years after the original. The opening installment was the highest-grossing film of 1993 and went on to win three special effects Oscars. World is scheduled for release in June 2015, and in addition to Wong stars Chris Pine and Bryce Dallas Howard.
