Every gay guy we know—young or old—seems to have some sort of Diana baggage. So the fact that the movie about her life and death starring Naomi Watts as the famous former princess is set to be released later this year, starring Naomi Watts in all her feathered blond ambition, we knew that there'd be plenty of opinions. Watch the trailer and then see what Out's editors and contributors thought and tell us what you expect, hope for, or dread when the film finally hits movie theaters.
Julien Sauvalle: "No prosthetic nose, no Oscar."
Regan Hofmann: "The hair and that perfect '90s-clumpy mascara deserve their own Oscar. All I could think of with those crowd scenes was how they couldn't stop extras from shouting 'Liz!' when they filmed Cleopatra because they were so excited to be near Liz Taylor. I doubt they had that problem this time."
Andrew Belonsky: "It comes off a bit like 'poor little rich girl.' Also, why is she chasing those Indian children?"
Brent Coover: "Why is Lana Del Rey wearing that awful wig in her new music video?
Adam Rathe: "I adore Naomi Watts and cannot wait to see this. Goosebumps!"
Jason Lamphier: "Do you remember Naomi in Tank Girl? She's barely recognizable in it! That was a shit movie. Good soundtrack, though."
Greg Garry: "Looks more like Tina Brown than Princess Die. at least they cast an anorexic in it, they got that bit right "
Aaron Hicklin: "My first thought was this was an outtake from that much loved UK comedy duo French & Saunders, but by the end I may have shed a tear. The fact that it's by Oliver Hirschbiegel, director of Hitler biopic DOWNFALL suggests we don't judge prematurely. And does Michael Sheen (The Queen, The Deal, The Special Relationship) get to play Tony Blair for a fourth time?"
Jerry Portwood: "She'll never live down that feathered do."
