Ken O'Neill gets a major assist from Jennifer Westfeldt to promote his book, 'The Marrying Kind'

Authors are pretty much required to promote their books through funny, quirky "trailers" these days. Luckily author Ken O'Neill, who's still promoting the summer release of his book The Marrying Kind, has a friend in Jennifer Westfeldt, the funny (and beautiful) director/actress (who also happens to be the longtime partner of actor John Hamm).

You may remember Westfeldt in her most recent film, Friends With Kids, which she wrote, produced, directed, and starred in alongside Adam Scott, Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Chris O'Dowd, and Hamm. If you haven't seen it, you should: It could actually have been a movie about two guys who feel the same overwhelming pressures about all their friends getting hitched and having children. Here Westfeldt quizzes O'Neill in an awkward interview--calling the book a graphic novel, wanting him to compare his book to The Hunger Games--and also skewering him by asking if he's a self-hating gay and why he's mocking same-sex unions. "You wrote a book that makes fun of gay people's struggles," Westfeldt says, tongue in cheek.

Let's explain: O'Neill's book is a romantic comedy about a gay wedding planner (is that redundant?) who organizes a boycott of the wedding industry since they are supporting a As it's described, they call on "gay organists, hairdressers, cater-waters, priest,s and florists everywhere to get out of the business and to stop going to weddings." Watch how Westfeldt puts O'Neill in the hot seat in her own parody of what it means to be a marriage equality supporter. Do we smell a movie adaptation in the works?
