Days of Summer

Brighteyes

Monday, August 4: Nick, 15; Joe, soon to be 19; and Kevin, 20 are a rare breed of teen heartthrobs. Also known as the Jonas Brothers, these lads wear promise rings and are saving themselves for marriage. If that weren't cute enough, check out their videos for "Burnin' Up" and "SOS" and catch up on their comings and goings with Popnography's gratuitous coverage of the hot little numbers. They're slowly releasing songs on iTunes to celebrate the August release of A Little Bit Longer, but eager beavers and rabid fans can see them in person this week at New York City's Madison Square Garden.Tuesday, August 5: Omaha, Nebraska, is a musical miracle, and the Faint are hometown boys who release their latest album, Fasciinatiion, today. They collected a big dance-punk, eye-lined fanbase with Danse Macabre and Wet From Birth (watch a Jimmy Kimmel performance of "Paranoiattack" ), and leading with the single "The Geeks Were Right,"Fasciinatiion promises to perpetuate the success of its predecessors. If you're not into electro, try out some mildly whiny emo indie rock as fellow comely Omaha-er Conor Oberst delivers his self-titled solo effort after almost 15 years with various bands, namely Bright Eyes.Get it today, then consult Craigslist Omaha real estate. Wednesday, August 6: Oh, we love a good pretty boy trying to play smart. Models aren't supposed to be writers, but Bruce Hulse is determined to prove us wrong. At least he was banging the most beautiful women in the world (Elle Macpherson and Andie MacDowell, to name a couple). The book will not change your world, but Sex, Love, and Fashion: A Memoir of a Male Model should provide a few "Oh, no he didn't!" moments. To remind yourself of his pretty face, consult a few slideshows on his website, then grab the new tome here.Thursday, August 7: Queens love a good witch, and with Wicked you get two for the price of one. The epic story of the good witch, made famous by the lovely Kristin Chenoweth, and the wicked witch of the west, made famous by the flawless Idina Menzel, is one for the Broadway ages. Now that the show's a tour, lucky Los Angeles queers can take in Wicked for a month at the Pantages Theater. You'll be humming the tune to hits like "Defying Gravity" and "Popular" for weeks afterwards. Trust us on this one. Get your tickets now. Friday, August 8: Even as a shaggy, eternally stoned weed dealer, James Franco can sell a movie -- the boy is gorgeous. If that weren't reason enough to see his latest, Pineapple Express, Franco also joins hilarious underdog Seth Rogen (of Knocked Up fame) and spunky Rosie Perez, who plays a crooked cop. Here's the trailer. Meanwhile, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 hits theaters today. We've watched darling America Ferrera come into her own as the star of Ugly Betty,Blake Lively do the same in Gossip Girl, and, well, Amber Tamblyn and Alexis Bledel are adorable, too. Watch the trailer and tell us it's not precious. Saturday, August 9: Chicago's Northhalsted Market Days is in its 27th year and spans six city blocks, hosts over 400 vendors of food and crafts, and boasts three stages of performances for both days. Today and tomorrow you will no doubt get your eat on if you live in Chi-town. And Sunday you can catch the Chicago Gay Mens Chorus at noon, so show up and show some love. Check out the website for a full listing of bands. Sunday, August 10: What is there to say about Tony Kushner and Angels in America that hasn't been said? It's arguably the most brilliant play of our gay generation, so Seattle boys and girls, listen up. Tonight is the last night of Angels in America: Perestroika, in which eight actors play at least two roles. (Serious acting chops are a requirement. Hello, Meryl Streep, Al Pacino, Mary-Louise Parker, and Patrick Wilson were in the HBO Miniseries.) Get your tickets now before they're sold out.
