The Gay Agenda

By Bill Chenevert

SPECTACLE: The Abbey knows how to pick 'em. Candis Cayne, the gifted, gorgeous trans artiste made famous from her turn as a mistress in ABC hit Dirty Sexy Money, begins her weekly Monday-night show at the West Hollywood venue on May 26. Serving up a delightful cocktail of song, dance, improvisational comedy, and borderline painful beauty, Cayne is sure to wow followers and newcomers alike. Wear your best, though, because she's known for spontaneously pulling audience members into her zany act. You absolutely must watch this clip of her performing the "God Warrior" from FOX's Wife Swap. Get more info about the show here.

TUBE: A&E surprises us with a pulse-elevating remake of the Michael Crichton 1971 sci-fi hit The Andromeda Strain. Airing in two parts (the first on Monday, May 26, the second on Tuesday, May 27), the miniseries tells the story of a team of scientists investigating a deadly disease with an extraterrestrial origin. Andromeda also features a slew of comely actors of a certain age, including Benjamin Bratt, Eric McCormack (above), and Ricky Schroder. Bonus: One of these stars plays gay -- but you didn't hear that from us. Read more about The Andromeda Strain -- and see how other queerified remakes measure up to their cinematic forebears -- in the June/July issue of Out. Watch the miniseries' trailer here.
