The Gay Agenda

Agenda01_20070906

DVD: In The Starter Wife, former Will & Grace star Debra Messing plays a ginger spitfire who leans on the support of her gay best friend (Chris Diamantopoulos) and her boozy gal pal (Judy Davis) after a nasty breakup with her successful husband (Peter Jacobson). Sound familiar? While The Starter Wife lacks the quick wit and clever plotting of Messings groundbreaking sitcom, it retains the same gay sensibility with Messing and Dreamgirls star Anika Noni Rose.TUNES: With his pink Louis Vuitton luggage, planned fashion label, and the numerous photographs circulating the Internet of him throwing up the Dynasty hand symbol with Tom Cruise, Kanye West is one handful of confetti away from becoming Rip Taylor. Even if the rapper isnt lying about his avowed heterosexuality, hes always been a friend to the gays, so head out to your local music store (or load up iTunes) and buy his latest album, Graduation.FLICK: Here's one secret the out-and-proud gays have kept hidden from heterosexual eyes: gay movies generally suck. (For every Brokeback Mountain, there are 10 Latter Days.) However, The Bubble (the newest offering from Eytan Fox, the critically acclaimed director of Yossi & Jagger) looks a lot more promising than most recent gay-themed movies. The film, about a gay relationship that transcends the border between Israel and Palestine, opens in limited release. BALLS: If you love Grease 2 and want even the flimsiest excuse to burst into Score Tonight, then join gay bowling in the Texas Gay Handicap Tournament in Austin, Texas. Even if you hate the sport, this tourney (hosted at Highland Lanes) will give you the opportunity to use all the ball puns youve been cooking up all summer. For more information, head over to BowlTight .org. GOSSIP: Chances are youre among the millions who visit Perez Hilton's daily gossip blog. (Really, who can resist crudely drawn coke bubbles on paparazzi shots?) Now the out Web master is hosting his own talk show, What Perez Sez, the upcoming episode of which will focus on this years Video Music Award performances. Expect to hear the cold, hard truth about Britneys rumored comeback and indulge in the guiltiest pleasure this fall has to offer.
