No Moore Drama

What are your thoughts on Britney Spears' situation?
I don't want to comment on somebody else. I think like everybody else. I'm supportive and hope she gets it all together. I have faith that she will, but I think everybody's sort of rooting for her too.
You went from playing a pious, sweet girl in A Walk to Remember to play a caricature of a pious girl in Saved! Do you think that upset your more conservative fans?
I'm not sure. Maybe, but it was so tongue-in-cheek, and I think if people don't have a sense of humor, it's not really our fault. I guess when we were all making that movie we assumed that it wasn't going to be everyone's cup of tea. I was OK with it. I'm really proud of that movie.
A few years ago you were rather upset when Details claimed that you were one of Hollywood's secret Republicans. Do you consider yourself very political, or do you prefer to steer clear of the topic?
I prefer to steer clear of the topic, but I'm definitely not a Republican.
Why do you think that was reported?
I think people have this misperception of me because of the roles I played in A Walk to Remember and even from Saved! They assume I'm deeply religious. I had performed at the White House once and performed at this Christmas special that the Bushes attended. I think they put all these puzzle pieces together and assumed that I was a Republican. It happened around the time of the election. I was like, 'I was just at John Kerry's benefit. How does that make sense?' But it wasn't a huge deal, which was fine with me.
Speaking of political beliefs and religious beliefs, I'm curious if you have an opinion on celebrity outing. If journalists can ask celebrities about religious beliefs and political stances, do you think they can ask them about sexual orientation?
I don't think so. I think it's entirely inappropriate. I mean, if somebody wants to talk about it, that's fine, but nobody should have to be forced to come out, you know?
Do you know a lot of closeted actors?
I don't, personally. I just don't think it's fair to discuss anybody's personal life unless they want to.
What was it like working with Robin Williams in License to Wed?
He's awesome. He's such a pleasure and definitely keeps you on your toes as an actor.
