Obama reiterated his increased support of LGBT rights today when he shared the stage with Evan Wolfson at Barnard College's graduation ceremony in New York City. Both men had been tapped to receive the Barnard Medal of Distinction, the school's highest honor.
Wolfson, the Freedom to Marry founder and president, said he was "deeply moved" to join Obama onstage, and praised the president for his recent change of heart about gay marriage.
"In explaining his change of heart, the President spoke in heartfelt words that rang true, because he described the very same journey that so many Americans - a majority now - have made," Wolfson said.
Wolfson, who has been named one of the "100 most influential people in the world" by Time magazine (he's also No. 50 on Out's Power List), celebrated his own marriage to longtime partner Cheng He this past October.
As for Obama's commencement address, it touched upon the rough economic climate for graduating students--as well as Obama's fight for equal rights, workers' rights, and gay rights.
